New Library Hub Design

UPDATE 22 JULY 2024

The successful tenderer for the new library was Hayhurst Architects and they are currently working on concept designs for the old Barclays Bank building.
Two recent consultation events have taken place:

The first involved pupils from Launceston Primary School, St Catherine’s School, St Stephen’s School and Windmill Hill School. The outcome of this session can currently be seen in the stain glass windows on the building.

The second event was an open-door consultation for the community. We estimate in excess of 100 residents visited and contributed their views as to what should be included in the final design. Visitors were fascinated with the building and the general view was very positive.

Hayhurst Architects are following a process of consultation which means they will present to the council, the views of residents, as well as outling the limitations of the building, such as making sure the designs meet things such as fire regulations.
